Fleet Management Software Options 2026

Running a vehicle fleet in 2026 means managing more moving parts than ever. Fuel and energy costs remain unpredictable, driver shortages have not gone away, and compliance rules keep tightening, from tachograph and drivers’ hours checks to clean air zones and vehicle safety standards in London. Whether an organisation runs twenty service vans or two thousand HGVs, spreadsheets and basic trackers stop coping long before the fleet stops growing.

The market has also moved on quickly. AI dashcams and driver coaching are now standard on most shortlists, vehicle makers increasingly ship connectivity from the factory, and several of the best-known names have changed hands in the last twelve months. A shortlist built from memory or from a two-year-old review may already be out of date.

This guide covers ten leading fleet management software platforms for UK and international buyers in 2026, split into enterprise and mid-market tiers, with our independent viewpoint on each. Viewpoint Analysis is a Technology Matchmaker, helping businesses find the right technology fast, and helping vendors get found by the right buyers.

Included Fleet Management Software Vendors

This guide covers the following fleet management platforms, evaluated independently across enterprise and mid-market tiers. Our viewpoint on each vendor follows below.

Samsara | Geotab | Webfleet | Microlise | Michelin Connected Fleet | Teletrac Navman | Quartix | Lytx | Chevin FleetWave | Fleetio

What is Fleet Management Software?

Fleet management software gives an organisation visibility and control over its vehicles, drivers and the work they do. At its core it combines vehicle tracking with data on how vehicles are driven, maintained and used, so fleet managers can cut costs, keep drivers safe and stay on the right side of the law.

Most platforms now cover live tracking and journey history, driver behaviour scoring, video telematics and AI dashcams, fuel and EV charging data, maintenance scheduling, vehicle inspections and defect reporting, and compliance reporting such as remote tachograph download and drivers’ hours. Some products are telematics-first and built around in-vehicle hardware. Others are software-first fleet administration systems that manage the whole life of a vehicle, from acquisition and leasing through servicing to disposal, and pull in data from whichever telematics devices are already fitted.

Fleet management sits alongside, but is distinct from, transport management. A transport management system plans and executes freight movements, while fleet management looks after the vehicles and drivers doing the moving. Buyers looking at the wider picture should also read the Transport and Logistics Management Software Options 2026, Route Optimisation Software Options 2026 and Last Mile Delivery Software Options 2026 guides. For shipping and vessel fleets, see the separate Maritime Software Options 2026 guide. The Transport and Logistics Industry page brings all of our transport coverage together, and the Supply Chain Technology area page covers the wider supply chain market.

How to Find Fleet Management Software

The fleet management market is crowded, and many products look alike on a website. The real differences show up in hardware choices, compliance depth for the countries you operate in, contract terms, and how well the platform fits the type of vehicles you run. Starting with a clear picture of your own fleet saves a lot of wasted demos.

The most efficient starting point for most buyers is the Longlist Builder, a free tool powered by HUEY, the Viewpoint Analysis AI Technology Analysis Agent. It produces a tailored list of vendors matched to your fleet size, sector, location and key requirements in minutes. There is no registration and no vendor sponsorship.

For buyers who would rather have vendors come to them, the Technology Matchmaker Service works like Dragons’ Den for enterprise software. Viewpoint Analysis interviews your team, writes a Challenge Brief that sets out your fleet and operational needs, and invites the best-fit fleet management vendors to pitch to you directly.

Enterprise Fleet Management Software Options 2026

Samsara is a US-listed connected operations platform that combines vehicle telematics, AI dashcams, equipment monitoring and driver workflows in one cloud system. It has a large and growing UK and European customer base, run from its London office. In April 2026 it launched Smart Compliance for UK and EU fleets, bringing tachograph management, infringement prevention and driver coaching together with rulesets for 17 European countries. In June 2026 it extended its pre-delivery installation programme to the UK, so hardware can be fitted while a vehicle is being built. Its AI coaching tools are designed to spot risky driving and help managers coach drivers before an incident happens.

Our Viewpoint: A strong fit for large, safety-focused fleets that want telematics, video, compliance and asset tracking from a single platform and a single supplier.

Geotab is a Canadian connected vehicle company with one of the largest installed bases in the world. Its MyGeotab platform covers tracking, driver behaviour, fuel and EV data, maintenance and reporting, and its open architecture and Marketplace of add-on solutions make it popular with organisations that want to feed fleet data into other business systems. In October 2025 Geotab acquired the commercial operations of Verizon Connect in the UK, Ireland, much of Europe and Australia, which made it one of the biggest fleet providers in the UK. Former Verizon Connect customers in those markets keep their existing service for a transition period before moving across to Geotab.

Our Viewpoint: A good choice for organisations that value an open, data-rich platform and want fleet data flowing into their wider reporting and business systems.

Webfleet is Bridgestone’s fleet management solution, formerly known as TomTom Telematics before Bridgestone bought it in 2019. More than 60,000 businesses use it, and it has particularly strong coverage across the UK, Germany, Benelux and the Nordics. The platform covers tracking, driver coaching, tachograph and working time compliance, video telematics, fuel and CO₂ reporting, and integrations with transport management systems. Its OEM.connect programme lets fleets connect factory-fitted vehicles without extra hardware, with six Volkswagen Group brands added in June 2026, and it launched its Fleet Insights analytics tool in September 2026.

Our Viewpoint: A well-proven option for European road transport and van fleets that want strong compliance tools, broad vehicle connectivity and the backing of a major tyre and fleet services group.

Microlise is a Nottingham-based transport technology company, listed on AIM, that has served UK hauliers, retailers and parcel carriers for more than four decades. Its platform is built for commercial vehicle fleets, covering telematics, driver performance, remote tachograph download, proof of delivery and journey planning. Microlise also supplies telematics directly to truck and commercial vehicle manufacturers, so its systems are often found fitted as standard. It is widely used by large grocery, retail and distribution fleets running HGVs on tight delivery schedules.

Our Viewpoint: A natural fit for large UK logistics and distribution fleets that want a transport-focused platform with deep HGV and delivery operations capability.

Michelin Connected Fleet is the fleet management business of the Michelin Group, formerly known as Masternaut before Michelin acquired it. Its MyConnectedFleet platform covers tracking, driver behaviour, fuel, onboard cameras and maintenance, with tyre wear inspection and under-inflation alerts that draw on Michelin’s tyre expertise. In June 2026 it rolled out an AI Assistant for UK customers, allowing fleet managers to ask questions of their fleet data in plain language and generate reports instantly. The business connects around 660,000 vehicles for some 70,000 customers across 48 countries.

Our Viewpoint: A strong option for mid-sized and large UK fleets that want telematics combined with tyre management and practical cost-saving tools.

Mid-Market and Specialist Fleet Management Software Options 2026

Teletrac Navman is a fleet and asset management platform with a long-standing presence in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and North America. Its TN360 platform covers tracking, compliance, video telematics, driver safety and equipment monitoring, and it is widely used in construction, utilities and distribution. In June 2026 Respida Capital completed the purchase of a majority stake from Vontier, and Teletrac Navman now operates as a standalone private company, with Vontier keeping a minority shareholding. The company has continued to add AI-based safety and analytics features to the platform.

Our Viewpoint: A practical choice for mixed fleets of vehicles and plant, particularly in construction and utilities, that want compliance, safety and equipment tracking in one system.

Quartix is a UK-founded vehicle tracking specialist, now 25 years old, that tracks more than 333,000 vehicles for around 33,000 customers. Its platform covers live tracking, journey history, driver behaviour, mileage and timesheet reporting, and a connected dashcam that is fully integrated with its web application. Quartix offers short 12-month contract terms, which many smaller fleets value, and it was named Telematics Supplier of the Year at the 2026 What Van? Awards. A redesigned web application was released in beta in 2026.

Our Viewpoint: An excellent fit for small and mid-sized fleets that want reliable tracking, clear reporting and flexible contract terms without enterprise complexity.

Lytx is a video telematics specialist that grew out of DriveCam, one of the first commercial fleet camera systems. It uses machine vision and AI, trained on an extensive bank of commercial driving data, to detect risky driving, coach drivers and support insurance claims. Lytx has been majority-owned by private equity firm Permira since 2020. In 2026 it launched LytxOne, a single platform that brings video safety, telematics, maintenance, compliance and asset tracking together.

Our Viewpoint: A strong choice for fleets where driver safety, insurance costs and accident evidence are the main reasons for buying.

Chevin FleetWave is fleet management software from Chevin Fleet Solutions, founded in Belper, Derbyshire in 1990 and part of Volaris Group since 2023. FleetWave is a software-first fleet administration system that manages the full life of vehicles, plant and equipment, from acquisition and leasing through maintenance, compliance and driver records to disposal. It works with a wide range of telematics providers rather than relying on its own hardware. Chevin is used in more than 180 countries and is often shortlisted by public sector bodies, utilities and large corporate fleets with complex asset bases.

Our Viewpoint: A strong fit for organisations with large, varied fleets that need detailed asset lifecycle, cost and compliance records in one configurable system.

Fleetio is a US-based, cloud fleet maintenance and operations platform covering maintenance scheduling, inspections, fuel tracking, parts inventory and vendor management. It is known for a modern, mobile-friendly interface that operations teams moving off spreadsheets find easy to adopt. In 2025 it raised $450 million and acquired Auto Integrate, an England-based maintenance authorisation platform that connects fleets with repair shops, which gives Fleetio a stronger presence in the UK and Europe. It integrates with many telematics and fuel card providers to bring vehicle data into one view.

Our Viewpoint: An excellent choice for fleets that want to get maintenance, inspections and repair approvals under control with an easy-to-use, maintenance-led platform.

A Note on Recent Market Changes

Several familiar names in the fleet management market have changed ownership recently, and buyers should check where existing contracts and support will sit before renewing.

Geotab and Verizon Connect. In October 2025 Geotab took over Verizon Connect’s commercial operations in the UK, Ireland, much of Europe and Australia. Verizon Connect continues in North America, but UK customers are now served by Geotab, which is why Verizon Connect no longer appears as a separate vendor in this guide.

Trimble and Platform Science. In February 2025 Trimble completed the sale of its global transportation telematics business to Platform Science, now sold as Trimble Mobility by Platform Science. Trimble kept a shareholding and continues to offer transport management, mapping and freight visibility, which are covered in our Transport and Logistics Management Software Options 2026 and Freight Management Software Options 2026 guides.

Teletrac Navman. Vontier sold a majority stake in Teletrac Navman to Respida Capital, with the deal completing on 30 June 2026.

How to Select Fleet Management Software

Start with an honest description of your fleet. A platform designed for HGV tachograph compliance is a different product from a tracking tool for a 20-van service fleet, and a maintenance-led system is different again. Write down vehicle types and numbers, depots, sectors of operation, countries you drive in, and whether you also need to track plant, trailers or unpowered assets. Many selections go wrong because the longlist is far too broad.

Decide early on hardware. Some platforms work with devices you already have, some read data directly from factory-fitted vehicle connectivity, and others need their own hardware fitted to every vehicle. Knowing whether you are buying a software upgrade or a full hardware replacement programme changes the cost, the timescale and the disruption to your drivers.

Make compliance a pass or fail test. In the UK that means remote tachograph download and analysis, drivers’ hours and working time reporting, walkaround checks and defect reporting that stand up to DVSA scrutiny and operator licence obligations, and increasingly clean air zone and Direct Vision Standard requirements. Fleets crossing into Europe also need to keep pace with the EU Mobility Package, which extends tachograph rules to international vans over 2.5 tonnes from July 2026. Ask vendors to show these features working today, not on a roadmap.

Look closely at contracts and total cost. Telematics contracts often run for three to five years and bundle hardware, connectivity, licences and installation. Compare the full cost over the contract term, check notice periods and automatic renewal clauses, and agree who owns the data and how you get it back if you leave.

Finally, test integration. Fleet data is most useful when it flows into payroll, HR, finance, fuel card, maintenance and transport management systems. Ask for documented, working integrations with the systems you already run.

To structure your evaluation, the Rapid RFI provides a fast, structured way to assess vendor fit and get to a credible shortlist. Once you have a shortlist, the Rapid RFP runs a lean selection process that reaches a vendor decision in weeks. If time is tight, the 30-Day Technology Selection combines both into a single accelerated programme. For the full method, the Enterprise Software Selection Playbook 2026 is the definitive reference.

Summary

The fleet management market in 2026 is well supplied, but it has shifted. AI dashcams and coaching have become standard, factory-fitted connectivity is reducing the need for aftermarket hardware, and ownership changes at Verizon Connect, Trimble and Teletrac Navman mean some long-standing names now sit with new owners. For large fleets, Samsara, Geotab, Webfleet, Microlise and Michelin Connected Fleet each bring a different emphasis, from safety and compliance to open data, HGV operations and tyre management. For mid-sized and specialist needs, Teletrac Navman, Quartix, Lytx, Chevin FleetWave and Fleetio cover tracking, video safety, fleet administration and maintenance.

Three takeaways for buyers in 2026. First, be clear about your main need, whether that is compliance, driver safety, maintenance or fleet administration, because each is served by different platform strengths. Second, treat hardware, contract length and data ownership as core selection criteria, not paperwork for later. Third, check who owns the vendor and where your support will come from, as the market has seen more change in the last year than in the previous five.
